Despite having a decent design, the Skullcandy Crusher 2014 are not the best headphones for critical listening. Bass enhancement is controlled by a slider on the right ear cup, but it tends to make them sound unbalanced and worse for more critical listeners. As plastic headphones and somewhat cheaply constructed, they’re also not the most durable.
How do Skullcandy Crusher 2014 Headphones compare to other headphones?
You’ve just landed on the right page.
As soon as headphones were invented in 1891, listening to music and watching movies became easier. The bi-telephone was known back then as a “bi-phone”.
Additionally, they resembled stethoscopes at the time. The year is 2022, 127 years after headphones were invented. Who doesn’t know what a headset is?
Nowadays, almost everyone wants a pair or more of them. You can listen to your favorite music or watch your favorite shows or movies, or even listen to your favorite podcasts without interruption.
It is actually easier to use headphones since they block out most of the outside noise. Every word or tune is savoured. They are very efficient.
Headphones: what are they?
A pair of headphones is a small speaker that can be plugged into a computer, laptop, smartphone or other device to listen to music.
Wireless or corded models are usually available. Bluetooth-enabled headphones connect to other mobile devices through Bluetooth, while corded headphones use a cord to connect to other devices.
There are earbuds with wires, wireless earbuds, on-ear headphones, and over-ear headphones in these categories.
What is the manufacturer of Skullcandy crusher headphones?
The skull candy headphones 2014 are produced by Skullcandy. In addition to earbuds and headphones of high quality, they also produce and market hands-free devices and other music technology.
It is owned by Skullcandy, Inc., which is an American company located in Park City, Utah.
Founded in 2003 by Rick Alden and Cris Williams, it is a private company.
Skullcandy introduced its first product at the 2003 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, which was the Skullcandy portable link.
In those days, hands-free cellular technology was combined with headphones to create the Link system.
With it, users could listen to their favorite music while making and receiving calls on their cellphones.
This technology is patented by the company. The company’s success has never spiraled since it developed the Link technology.
The current Chief Executive Officer of the company is Jason Hodell. The company makes over 250 million US dollars in revenue annually.
The quality of the sound
There are two different drivers in these headphones, as we’ve already mentioned. At the low end, the Sensation55 takes care of sound and feel, while the REX40 takes care of everything else. In addition to multiple drivers, this unit is also acoustically ported, which gives a nice little bass boost.
There are lows
Skullcandy Crusher receives its reputation for the lows, which are a highly important aspect of the sound. Mechanical vibrations are created by the Sensation55, which is not something traditional. The headphones vibrate when low notes hit, making for a fantastic listening experience.
With the adjustable slider, you can adjust the bass to suit your personal preference, from mild to very deep. There is no doubt that these headphones are at their best when it comes to bass.
There are Mids
Moving up the frequency range, we found that the mids were a very weak selling point for these headphones. There is no doubt that the mid-range of this product is pretty flat and does not engage you sufficiently, although the lower mids seem to be okay.
There are Highs
Things improved when we reached the highs. They sounded crisp and clear without being harsh. Although manufacturers did not go into as much detail as they did with lows, there was still a lot to enjoy in the highs.
Even though stereo separation is obvious, it is not particularly accented. People that are buying these headphones strictly for the bass capabilities should not worry much about this, but it is something that we thought is worth mentioning.
In terms of distortion, the acoustical porting came in handy. You will be able to increase the volume quite a bit before you notice any audible distortion. The sound will likely break at the absolute highest volumes, but you shouldn’t turn it up so loud as it can damage your hearing.
The battery
If you’re wondering why these headphones need batteries in the first place, the answer is actually pretty obvious – they’re cheap. It will still work without the battery, but the Sensation55 driver will not provide the best listening experience without it.
The good piece of news is that you will not have to change the battery frequently. A single battery grants you 40 listening hours, and all of that is in case you are pushing the bass slider all the way up. You probably won’t push this slider to its limits anyway, so the battery should last a long time.
A breathable material
The Skullcandy Crusher is an extremely comfortable unit that feels as if you are not wearing it at all. Breathability is one of the important boxes to check, especially if you want to wear your headphones for longer periods, and this pair offers you just that.
The ear cups are super comfy and allow the air to circulate properly. Due to the soft material of Skullcandy Crusher, your ears won’t sweat and you won’t feel uncomfortable after wearing it for a long time.
Quality of construction
These headphones are pretty big and chunky right out of the box. You won’t forget who made these headphones with the faux-chrome and printed skulls. The design is somewhat acquired taste, but the build quality seems solid and durable.
